Springfield Historical Society Museum

Hundreds of artifacts are housed at Springfield's museum on Main Street.  You'll step back to 1900 after a stroll through a reconstructed home complete with furnishings for the parlor, kitchen, and bedroom. Past decades come alive along a typical Main Street with a bank, general store, barber shop, blacksmith shop, city jail cell and post office.

You'll also find items unique to Springfield, such as college yearbooks and memorabilia dating back as far as 1916.  Items are displayed from St. Mary's Indian School, which operated in Springfield for many years.

A large, indoor display of antique horse-drawn farm machinery completes another wing of the museum.  Grain binder, corn binder, plows, cultivators are among the items to be seen.

Indian artifacts and beadwork, military uniforms, clothing, a 1926 Model 'T' Ford, a 1905 horse-drawn buggy and an old style coffin are still more items you'll find at the Springfield museum.

The museum is open Sundays during the summer months or by appointment.
