Bon Homme School District

Home

The Bon Homme School District encompasses 306 square miles and includes the communities of Springfield, Tabor and Tyndall.  The Bon Homme Colony and the village of Running Water also are part of the district.

The District maintains four sites of instruction.  Beginning fall 2002, Springfield youth will attend grades kindergarten through fifth grade in town. All students in the district in grades six through twelve attend the Tyndall site, with the exception of the Hutterische Colony which instructs pupils there in grades K-8.

The drop out rate is less than 1 percent, which is below the state average of 2.4%.  The student teacher ratio is 13:1.  The average class size is 16.6.  Total enrollment is 625.

Keeping up with technology is a priority of the Bon Homme School District.  The student/computer ratio is 2.8:1.  Each elementary has a Mac lab.  Each classroom has Internet access and at least one computer.  Power School allows parents to access their children's grades from their home computer.  The district also has a V-tel connection with the state of South Dakota.
